An IRSE-licensed team leader, SMTH and Member of the IET, Max joined Amaro as an assistant project manager in late 2022, bringing with him more than 17 years of experience to support the delivery of S&T projects throughout the business.

Joining Amaro was a major leap forward for me, moving from mainly site-based work to a more office-based environment.

About Max

Beginning his railway journey back in 2006, Max’s first seven years were spent on the London Underground, working as a signalling installer and then team leader on the Jubilee and Northern Lines Upgrade Project, moving to Siemens to support the delivery of the Thameslink KO2 Programme.

Since then, acting as team leader and inspecting supervisor for some of the biggest names in rail, he’s helped deliver a whole host of challenging projects, from Crossrail and the Four Lines Modernisation to Oxford’s Phase 1 and 2 upgrades and Newcastle’s Nexus Metro Flow scheme.

Key responsibilities include…

  • Managing labour and work allocation via site supervisors
  • Developing, monitoring and reporting on programmes from a cost and delivery perspective
  • Developing and reviewing business plans to support delivery and the wider business objectives
  • Developing and improving relationships with clients
  • Delivering and managing electrical and civils designs from Form A stage through to Final Form B for Construction
  • Working with the team to innovate and share best practice
  • Carrying out site safety surveillance inspections and quality checks
  • Working with the team to ensure that all projects are delivered in accordance with CDM obligations with project documentation kept up to date
  • Actively promoting a culture change in safety, behaviours and working practices
  • Supporting the delivery of projects on site where required
Qualifications and memberships
  • Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology
  • Associate Member of the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers
