About Lewis

A born leader with an open and engaging management style, Lewis was the natural choice for the role of HSE Manager, in no small part thanks to his ability to bring out the best in others through mentoring, coaching and encouragement.

His ability to engage with the workforce in a language they understand and respect, to inspire them into action, and to understand how to deliver key messages clearly up and down the chain of command has made him an invaluable member of the Amaro community, and a welcome presence on our clients’ many sites.

Since joining the team, Lewis has been instrumental in the forging of new alliances with likeminded organisations, committed to improving the health, safety, and wellbeing of those working in the rail industry. He’s also spearheaded Amaro’s involvement with the Forces Transition Group, encouraging and supporting service leavers into a rewarding and long-lasting career in rail.

Key responsibilities include…

  • RISQS audits and compliance
  • Preparing HSE paperwork
  • Ensuring compliance with our various management systems and accreditations including ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001
  • Visiting the workforce on the infrastructure, carrying out inspections, providing support, professional advice and guidance where required
  • Implementing Amaro’s Behavioural Safety Programme
  • Ensuring that all health and safety processes and procedures are fully understood and worked to across the organisation
  • Monitoring performance against company HSE targets
  • Promoting the values of Amaro whilst setting, maintaining and demanding high standards from all those who work for and with the business
  • Providing HSE support and advice to the senior management team
