Amaro have a built up an excellent reputation over recent years by clearly demonstrating their willingness to go that extra mile to provide their clients with the best possible service.

I look forward to adding to that by bringing some additional engineering experience to the team, providing some of the support necessary to allow Amaro to grow its business throughout the UK

About John

Enrolling on British Rail’s Trainee Management Scheme in 1994, upon graduation John moved on to First Engineering, taking up the position of Assistant Signalling Project Engineer. Rising through the ranks to become Senior Signalling Project Engineer, in 2004 he left First to join Carillion as Construction Manager and CRE, moving three years later to Jarvis where he assumed the role of Signalling Project Manager.

2010 saw John join C Spencer as Project Manager, being promoted to Signalling Project Director before moving to SSE Enterprise Rail as Head of Engineering in 2015. Upon leaving SSE, he accepted the position of Engineering Manager at AmcoGiffen and joining Amaro as Head of Engineering in early 2021 before being appointed to his current role in 2023.

Key responsibilities include…

  • Ensuring compliance with engineering standards whilst improving Amaro’s technical and engineering competence and delivery
  • Ensuring 100% compliance with the IRSE Licensing Scheme with all IRSE logbooks being reviewed on an annual basis
  • Making sure that Project Managers receive technical support and guidance whilst delivering their projects
  • Working with Project Managers and clients alike, adding value engineering and technical expertise to each project
  • Supporting the business with PQQs and tendering
  • Supporting the MD and Commercial Manager with business development
  • Acting as both CEM and CRE as required for both signalling and E&P jobs as and when required
