Two Remarkable Rail Journeys: Work Anniversaries at Amaro

Celebrating decades of dedication, leadership, and impact in the rail industry.

We’re celebrating not one but TWO important milestones today…

Only yesterday, Michael Ewart MSc CEng FIET FIRSE, marked an incredible 34 years in the rail industry. From a British Rail trainee in 1991, through privatisation, a 5 year stint at Giffen and a decade at Network Rail to becoming the MD of Amaro today.

Not one to be undone, John Waugh CEng, BEng(Hons), FIRSE, FIET, MAPM, is also celebrating a major work anniversary, having started his rail journey (pun intended) 31 years ago to the day. After joining British Rail’s S&T Trainee Management Scheme back in 1994, he moved swiftly through the ranks of some of the biggest names in rail, making the move to Amaro in 2021.

Both Micky and John have been right at the heart of Amaro’s recent successes, spearheading the company’s growth, not just in team size and turnover, but in attitude, approach, and culture.

Congratulations gents, the railway’s lucky to have you!
