Early Starts, Big Impact: Signal Power Works in Teston

While most slept, our teams were busy boosting safety and reliability on Kent’s signalling network.

While most of us were fast asleep in our beds, our team were already hard at work in Teston last week, just down the road from our Maidstone HQ!

Part of Network Rail’s long-running Kent SPS (Signalling Power Supplies) Maintenance Project, 8 of our top operatives joined forces with 5 from Network Rail – including 4 of their brilliant apprentices – to deliver yet another successful shift.

Working together over the two days, the team got stuck in…

– Pulling out 500 metres of signalling power cable
– Completing 500 metres of route clearance
– Nipping and tucking 500 metres of cable
– Installing a new junction box

Now in our 4th year of being trusted to deliver these critical works, since early 2022 we’ve been supporting Network Rail throughout Kent, inspecting the area’s signal power supplies, performing periodic testing, repairing cabling, transformers and more, all to bring the whole system within current standards.

Not the kind of work that gets noticed by the public, but some of the most important work we do… improving safety, boosting reliability, and keeping passengers moving.
