Rachael Lyas nominated for Women in Rail’s ‘Female Apprentice of the Year’ award

Huge congratulations go out this morning to our Signalling Apprentice, Rachael Lyas, for being nominated for the Women in Rail Awards ‘Female Apprentice of the Year’ award!

Joining the business back in 2018 and currently in the 3rd year of her Level 3 apprenticeship, she’s been instrumental in redefining the role of women at Amaro, not to mention our appreciation for just what’s possible when you’re THIS committed.

Not only has she continually smashed all of her academic and practical targets, she’s done this whilst…

  • Visiting schools and schools to inspire the next generation
  • Encouraging more girls to become rail professionals
  • Helping to ensure 33% of our September cohort were female
  • Constantly seeking out new ways of helping her teammates

… all whilst holding down a full-time ‘day job’ as one of Amaro’s in-house Possession Planners AND completing a whole host of signalling testing qualifications (Mod 5, Mod 3C, and Assistant Tester on-site assessment) in the process.

Congratulations, Rach. You’re already a winner in our eyes!

A railway worker in a high-visibility orange uniform, branded with the Amaro logo, is seen from behind, standing on the tracks at night. The scene is illuminated by ambient lighting and shows railway tracks stretching into the distance, leading towards a well-lit station. The worker, equipped with a helmet and a bag, appears to be engaged in track inspection or maintenance duties.
