We’ve been busier than ever on Network Rail’s SPS (Signalling Power Supplies) project, testing, repairing, and replacing faulty assets right across Kent…
When a signalling failure occurs, more often than not it’s easy to work out why… a blown fuse, vandalism, or even (our favourite) rat-eaten cables.
But despite failures seeing a steady decline since 2011, they remain a MAJOR cause of disruption, with 36,000+ failures, 15,000 cancellations and millions of minutes of delays being seen between 2019 and 2024.
And that’s EXACTLY why projects like this are so important.
After a fire caused signalling supplies to fail back in August, 160m of interrupter cable was removed and, just a couple of weeks ago, we set to work fixing that…
– Pulling out, terminating and testing 160m of cable
– Recovering and removing it from site
– Returning it back to Lewisham Substation
Yet another cable replacement closed out, boosting resilience, reliability, and safety in the process!
