In 2023, we were awarded a contract to support Alstom’s Farncombe to Petersfield Resignalling (or F2P) project – a £49m scheme delivering state of the art signalling, level crossings and other assets on the London Waterloo to Portsmouth line.
And, earlier this week, our Senior PM, Dean Rann, and PM, Lee Fisher, caught up with our guys out on track, carrying out an ad hoc safety inspection (passed with flying colours!), and raising a few close calls in the process.
Joined on the day by the client’s own engineers, they witnessed their team hard at work, commissioning a new 650v signalling power system after first carrying out the following tests…
– Continuity testing
– Insulation resistance testing
– Loop impedance testing
– Fault current testing
– Load bank testing
… all in accordance with Alstom’s own requirements and the approved inspection and test plan.
Over the life of this project we’ll be installing DNO 400v/650v supplies, level crossing lighting, LVAC equipment, 1000s of metres of new cabling and more, not to mention all the associated termination and testing.
The result? Improved reliability, dramatically reduced maintenance costs AND a significant boost in future capacity.
Keep up the good work, guys!
